For over 40 years I’ve run my business under the name “Kunstdame”, with a nod to my family’s German ancestry. “Kunst” means “Art”, and “Dame” means “Lady” or “Woman”. Kunstdame has been a distinct name, but it’s been hard for others to remember, pronounce or spell, and it makes a terrible web address.

It’s time for a change. At this point, I’ve been officially transitioning my professional identity away from Kunstdame, TO RedRedCircle. It’s simply a color and a shape. It’s easy to spell, pronounce and remember. And it’s a much better email and web address!

Part-time in Italy

A dozen years ago I thought: “Hmm. Since I sit at my computer all day long, I might as well be sitting at my computer all day long IN ITALY!”

I take advantage of technology and haul my computer and external hard drive to Milan for a period each year. I keep working right along, and the only difference is that I’m 9 hours ahead of everyone. When it’s 9:00 in the morning in Seattle and people are getting into work, it’s 6:00 in the evening in Milan, and my “phone” starts ringing on my computer.

I’m now pretty fluent in Italian, have dear friends in Italy, and have been in and through all 20 regions of the country. I get an apartment in my favorite neighborhood, and shop for groceries along with “the rest of the Italians.”

Living in Italy for a time each year, fills my brain and my heart to the brim. It enriches me.
